Laguna de Llancanello
It is a lake where we can find a Wide variety of birds.

This unforgettable view is found 75 km from the city of Malargüe. It is a lake which homes a great variety of birds. Many of them are migratory, such as flamingos and they choose the place to nest. Because of its important ecological value since 1980 it is a provincial Reservoir, international environment community has also declared it as RAMSAR site. Llancanello, which means “bluish green pearl,” is the right place for bird watching (more than 155 species,) taking photos, enjoying nature’s beauty, landscape quietness and an amazing sunset.
If weather conditions and the way allow it, “Volcan Trapal” can be visited. After a 60 minute ascent the wonderful view of the Reservoir can be seen.

In winter it may snow in the region. A coat and proper shoes are required to go to the lake surroundings. In summer a hat or cap, sun block and water are advisable.

Duration

Depending on weather conditions and way, the journey may take at least 5 hrs from and to Malargüe. Several stops are made to visit Laguna de Cari Lauquen, Volcan Trapal (if the way is open, an ascent to the panoramic point is made.) The last destination is Laguna de Llancanello where, walking, the different kinds of birds may be seen according to the time of the year.
